FAQs - General Site Info
There are several reasons why Web pages may occasionally load slowly. You may notice that during certain times of the day it takes longer for a page to load. This is often because there is a high level of traffic to the site or to the Internet in general. The speed of a computer's processor and modem are also major factors in how quickly a Web page loads. Newer modems and computers are often able to load Web pages more quickly than older ones.
For the best online experience, it is recommended that users view the Web site with a browser that fully supports Java and JavaScript. We recommend the latest version of Microsoft Internet Explorer™. For help with upgrading to the most recent version of Microsoft Internet Explorer™, please visit the Browser Settings portion of Site Help. In addition, the Website is best viewed using an 800 x 600 screen resolution or greater. To determine or adjust screen resolution, please consult the user manual that came with your computer.
In several instances, the Web site makes use of frames technology. Using frames makes it possible to view several Web pages within one Web browser window. On a Web page that makes use of frames, selecting "print" will print only one of the frames seen on the screen. Therefore, before printing be sure to select the correct frame on the screen by clicking somewhere within the area that contains the information you would like to print.
When a Web page loads, the information appearing on the screen can load from one of two general locations: from a server over the Internet or from an area of previously stored data on a computer's hard-drive, called the cache. If the page loads from the cache, the information provided will only be as current as what was available the last time the information was accessed via the Internet.
If the Web page loads with information that is not current, first click the "Reload" or "Refresh" button located at the top of the browser. This should update your screen with the most recent information from the Internet. If this does not update the information, it may be necessary to clear the cache and force the Web browser to retrieve the information directly from the Internet. Clearing the cache removes old files or Web pages that are stored in memory so that the browser must obtain the most recent information from the Internet. For help with clearing a Web browser's cache, check the Help Menu located within your Web browser.
